Good Evening Everyone! First we must apoligize for not getting here sooner. As some of you know, the month of March was very busy for us, and April has been a bit of relief. We are proud to say that it is official, and we have raisied enough monies to begin training Alex's service dog! YEAH! We would like to extend a very heart warmed THANK YOU to just about everyone. You have been very supportive. The outpouring of support has been so overwhelming. It is incredible to see how many people have stepped up to help support our son and our family. It is something that our family will never be able to forget, and never know how to repay all of you. We have heard from the 4Paws Organization, and we have been assigned to the October class. We must send them a video tape of our surroundings and what a typical day would be so they have an idea of what the dog's environment will be. The other thing we must do to aid the dog's training is send them articles of clothing when Alex has a seizure and when he doesn't so the dog can begin to learn the difference in scents. We will be flying to Ohio in October and training at 4 Paws so that we can get Alex's newest 4 legged furry friend. Alex looks at it like getting a dog for his birthday, which is fine for us. We actually were hoping to be able to get in the August class, but it just didn't work out that way. As some of you know, Alex had his tonsils and adnoids removed a few weeks ago, and all is well. He just started school again this week. He was very excited to get back to see his friends and get back into a routine. Oh yeah,........so wasn't MOMMY! Let's just say it was a long two weeks. Alex will return to Children's Hospital in a few weeks for a follow up with his Neuro. We will continue to discuss his seizure activity, and try to come up with yet another plan. So as we continue down yet another road, we ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Once again we would like to say THANK YOU for all the Support and LOVE that you have showed US! Warmest Wishes, The LeBlanc Family
Hi Folks,We want to express our deepest thanks to the town of Auburn and all who have helped with our cause over the past three weeks. What a great success the month of February has been for us. The spaghetti supper held at the Auburn High School on February 28th, was a huge success. Un-officially they raised ~$2,000 also presented that night, the Auburn Middle School's Nicole P. presented our family with an envelope containing $1,197 for 4 Paws for ability.Alex was a handful that night sitting with girls from the Auburn High School, he brought his guitar to sing to his "girlfriends", they all thought he was so cute. They let him take pictures with one of the girl's digital camera (maybe he wants to be a photographer because he wouldn't put it down) we told him the camera would have no more room for pictures if he kept taking them. He especially liked watching the kitchen staff put the dirty dishes in the large dish-washing conveyor belt.We are patiently awaiting our March 1st totals from 4 Paws. Hopefully we are close to being done so we can secure one of the last spots available in August (all previous months are full), if we miss August, the next available class will be in October. Also, Mary D. Stone elementary school presented ~$732 during their weekly community time held on Friday's.We are looking forward to our benefit dinner for Alex on Saturday March 22 from 7PM to Midnight. There will be lots of raffles for people to win (silent auctions, raffles and a door prize or two). Tickets are $20 and must be purchased prior to the day of the event as the Auburn Elks club has an occupancy limit we must follow. If you wish to find out more information send an email to myalex@4paws4alex.org.The day after the benefit dinner is Easter Sunday, unfortunately Alex will not be able to eat anything that day as he is scheduled to have his tonsils and adnoids out that Monday. Childrens Hospital has evaluated him and have indicated that his tonsils are on the large side, so they believe that removing them my keep his air path open during the seizures when he has difficulty breathing.Once again we really do appreciate ALL the support everyone has given thus far, it is really overwhelming the way the whole town has rallied for our son.We will post our totals once we know them. Even if we reach our goal prior to our benefit dinner, we will still hold the event since we must also raise funds to help pay for the associated travel expenses required to travel and stay in Ohio for two weeks.Thank you all and keep Alex in your prayers.Sincerely,4paws4alex
It all started Monday morning this week, we went to the basement for something and noticed we had 2-3 inches of water in the basement. We have partial french drains in the basement to drain water out, but it was coming in faster than it was going out.So we spent the most of the day vacuuming water with the wet/dry vac, until we went out and got a small utility pump, the basement is now drying out. But with this weekend's snow forecast we are worried that we will have water again.Looks like we have to bite the bullet and put in a sump pump, which will be a bunch of work to do. Oh well, what can you do.
